People use our platform to speak out against hatred and extremism. They counter hateful content by responding to it directly, raising awareness on important issues, and supporting positive and moderate voices.
We believe these efforts to resist and stand up to racism, violence, extremism, and hate are essential. That is why we work closely with local communities, experts in civil society and academia, and policymakers to support counterspeech initiatives across the globe.
Our programmatic efforts to empower counterspeech creators, as well as our commitment to enforcing strong content policies on our platform, form a comprehensive approach to keeping people safe and enabling them to share freely.
We want people to feel safe on our platform, so we have Community Standards that explain what type of sharing is allowed and how to report content that violates our policies. We remove hate speech, which includes content that directly attacks people based on attributes like race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, and sexual orientation. We also do not allow the presence of organizations and people dedicated to promoting hatred, violence, or terror.
Our community of more than 1.9 billion people helps us enforce our standards. If someone shares something that is abusive, we want to hear about it and remove it, so we make it simple for people to report content to us. Our teams, which span the globe, review these reports around the clock in more than forty languages.
