Facebook continues to support and work with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on the Extreme Lives series. Running since 2017, the project explores the personal insights and stories of people who have been affected by violent extremism and of those exploring issues of identity, ethnicity, diversity and inclusion.
The project uses creative videos and content to disseminate positive, alternative narratives on social media in local languages with local stories. Content provides youth and local-level communities in Asia with relatable information on the factors that contribute towards extremism and its impacts.
Videos on Facebook and other social media platforms are accompanied by guidance for local civil society groups and organizations in the form of toolkits that encourage constructive conversations and promote understanding.
